Praying for Direction

Just a quick note.  I have been torn over the last months regarding this blog.  We initially began our blog when we were traveling and raising support full time.  Now that we are in Little Rock and are fully engaged in ministry work, I am struggling with whether or not I should continue here in bloggy world.  Most of our daily updates occur on facebook, the big news comes in our monthly prayer letters, and everything ends up attached to our website.  How much more do I put out there?  How much time should I invest in sharing the daily details of our lives?

If you have any thoughts or words of wisdom, please feel free to share.  Thanks for your patience as we pray and decide what is a wise use of our time and energies.

Much love,

Alecia

Praying with Perserverance

As we continue on the path that God has called us, we find ourselves in so many situations.  Some new, some sad, some scary, and all part of the learning process.

It has taken a lot of adjustment, being far away from all of our friends and family.  It is so amazing, though, to see how God's hand is on us, and just how much the enemy is willing to fight us.

These last weeks our hearts have been heavy over the details - the details that go along with living by faith.  All of the what's, where's, and when's.  So we began to pray harder, to claim God's promises, and to let statements of faith be always on our lips.  We asked our prayer team and home church to agree with us over the "details."  Within days, Alecia experienced her first ever kidney stone, one large enough that she required an ambulance ride, an overnight stay in the hospital, and a surgical procedure.  While at the hospital our children were in the loving hands of another FamilyLife couple.  During this time Gabriel managed to fall at the park and split his chin open.  Within three days, as a family we had spent time in two different hospitals and we're so tired.

However, the one constant thought that we have is the race that we have been called to.  Hebrews 12:1 talks about being surrounded by a cloud of witnesses and running with patience the race set before us.

WOW.....not easy and definitely not always fun.  At the conclusion of our "adventure" this last weekend, we had only one word for our prayer team and home church.  PRESS ON!  Do not let up.  PRAY!  As ever before, time is short.

We love each of you and appreciate you being a part of our "cloud of witnesses!"  Press on!

Looking for what God has for us.....

February has been a very busy month for us!  I know it is the shortest month of the year, but man!  Where did it go?

Some of the jobs we have tackled this month have been finding new doctors, getting Arkansas driver's licenses, and STILL looking for a church.  The kids have been so cute as they try to understand all of these mandatory and very boring activites.  We visited one church and let the kids visit kids church.  When it was time to go home Naomi told the director, "I am not ready to leave!"  So the lady told Naomi, "it is o.k. you can come back next time."  Naomi quickly looked up at her and stated, "no, we have to go to alot of churches."  The lady then said, "it's alright, your mom and dad just want to find the perfect church for you."  To that my four year old said, "no, we have to find the church that God has for us!"

What a simple view of what life should be.  Stepping out of your comfort zone and praying for direction.  The director of this children's church was so touched that at the age of four our little girl was able to articulate our desire to be exactly where God wants us.

Over the last month these verses have been going over in my spirit.  Helping in some way to keep us focused on why we are here.  Making it worth it all.

"But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him?  And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him?  And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?  And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent?  That is why the Scriptures say, "How beautiful are the feet of the messengers who bring good news!"  ~ Romans 10:14-15

An Orphan in Need

Meet Oksana, a precious little girl from Eastern Europe.

She is beautiful, smart, outgoing, and has special needs.  A fellow FamilyLife couple has been led of God to adopt this sweet little girl and save her from being institutionalized.  Oksana is currently in an orphanage, but is nearing the age that she will be sent to an institution.

The Bible calls us to action on behalf of the orphan.
James 2:15-16, 1 Thessalonians 5:14, and II Corinthians 9:7

How can you help?

     *  Visit Larry and Erin Loraine's blog and get to know their family a little better.

     * Click on the button that has Oksana's picture and give toward her adoption through Reece's Rainbow.

     * Spread the word!  Email, facebook, grab Oksana's button and add it to your blog.

This family is trusting God for the finances to bring this little one home safely so that they can give her the life that she needs.  A life filled with laughter, love, rehabilitation, and God our father.

Be blessed!

The Birthday Boy

Gabriel is 7!

After enjoying a quiet day at home on his actual birthday, Gabriel wanted to invite a few of his new friends over.  We had 10 children total in our home for pizza and cake.  When Gabriel blew out his candles he wished, "that his new friends could come over any time he wanted!"  We are so thankful for new friends who helped distract us on our first birthday celebration without family.

No place like home...

Well, we are here! We arrived in Little Rock, Arkansas at the end of December.

The movers have come and gone. FamilyLife staffers arrived and did their best to help us get settled. New friends have brought meals, and we have learned our way to Walmart. Yet, there seems to be no place like home. Which is actually kind of funny since we left our home well over a year ago. We have since lived in two different "homes" and stayed with many loving families as we have progressed on our journey.

This move has been hard - hard for alot of reasons. This is the farthest that we have lived from our families since we married. Our Grandparents are much older, and we have small children who are very attached to friends and family.

But for now, home is wherever we settle with the loved ones that God has given us. So, yes, we are home; even though it is now in Arkansas. We have each other, and we have confindence in our Savior and where He has placed us.

More updates and news to come as we unpack and get settled.
